Who We Are

The Green Capes Lions Club was founded in 2018 as a non-profit fund-raising organization dedicated to raising funds in support of the Lions Foundation of Canada Dog guides (LFCDG).

Headquartered in Toronto, Ontario, the Green Capes Lions Club consists of members from coast to coast, including puppy fosters, graduates of the Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides training programs and dedicated volunteers who all donate their time in support of the club’s purpose.  Green Capes was a pioneer virtual club, meeting remotely even before Covid to ensure accessibility is never a problem. We do see each other often at events and informal get togethers.

Green Capes welcomes anyone interested in supporting Dog Guides to  join our team, as a full member, associate member or Super Pup support team volunteer.   Learn more about Joining GC.

Making an Impact

To date, the Green Capes Lions Club has raised over $350,000.  This has enabled us to sponsor a dog guide in each of the 7 programs offered by the LFCDG, purchase a new van for the school, as well as other items the school has needed.    A complete list of donations and more details are shown at the bottom of the page.

In addition to sponsoring guide dogs and purchasing items for the school, the Green Capes Lions Club has pledged $250,000 towards the construction of a new Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guide training facility, which will pay for the building’s main reception area.

Raising Money and Raising Puppies

The Green Capes Lions Club also offers other merchandise for sale, including T-Shirts, Hoodies, note cards, tote bags, charms and pet first aid kits, which can be purchased from any of our club members, or direct from our shopping page.  All proceeds from calendar and merchandise sales goes to support the Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides.

Many of our club members are also past and present puppy fosters.  To date we have raised over 150 puppies.

National Lions Club Fundraiser

Our Green Capes for Lions partner clubs sell our calendars for $20 and keep $10 from each sale to use for their own activities while our portion (minus expenses) goes to DogGuides. Its an easy way to raise funds *and* support Dog Guides. Over 150 clubs have raised over $150,000 for their clubs in addition to the funds we raise for DogGuides.  Your club or non profit can benefit as well.

For more information on how to raise funds for your club visit our Green Capes for Lions website or send a message to lions@greencapes.com.

Partnership Events

Would you like some cute puppies to liven up an event and help Dog Guides?  We are always looking for new venues for Calendar Sales or Fundraising events.  We bring the puppies and you bring the people.  Calendar sales happen from Sept to Dec and after Jan we sell notecards, Tshirts and more. We would love to hear your idea via the Contact form below.
