Stevey is being fostered by Green Capes President Serena.
This is how she desribes Stevey’s first few weeks at home:
It’s hard to imagine the little guy has already been home for three weeks! He currently loves to follow me around, sit to get a treat and is really really good at sleeping. His favourite toy is his big sister Lizzo (the yellow lab), those two are inseparable! But if he has to pick an actual toy it would be his green squeaky lizard. He likes to squeak that thing as loud as he can and so for obvious reasons he’s not allowed to bring that toy to the office ?. He has been coming in to work with me and is learning from Lizzo that the best way to spend the day is to sleep under a desk. Quite boring but these models need their beauty sleep. He has been charming every one of our employees and everyone has to say hi to him as they walk by. He’s a very smart pup, he has quickly figured out which behaviours get him treats, that peeing outside is ideal, and is showing us he is more than capable of problem solving. He’s a patient boy who likes to observe before he acts and so far he’s not too much of a trouble maker, which I quite enjoy!
Right now he is working on sit, down, going the washroom outside, and crate manners. He has already improved so much since he got home although Dog Guides started teaching him sit, down, and crate manners before he came home. Since he can’t go very fast (little legs!) his walking beside me is very nice but that one will get more difficult as he gets bigger and starts to want to explore everything outside. He discovered leaves the other day and thinks those are the most fun things he can find!
He goes in for his second set of vaccines this week and we shall see how much he weighs now, last Monday he was 13lb so quite a big boy! His dad is set to graduate as an Autism Assistance Dog so he may take after his dad in size. I cannot believe how fast he has grown!
